With Singapore Art Week 2023 in full swing and in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the 911, art enthusiasts and Porsche fans can look forward to the return of the Porsche “Art of Dreams” with a captivating art installation centred around the iconic 911 at Gardens by the Bay.
The larger-than-life sculpture by Scottish artist Chris Labrooy stands at almost 12 feet tall and portrays a helmeted driver holding a 911 — a nod to our inner child playing with a toy car and the idea of childlike limitless imagination. Interestingly, the structure also pays homage to a typical Singaporean representation. The rubber flooring at the foundation of the artwork is made of the same material typically used in playgrounds seen around local housing neighbourhoods, emphasising a way of life that is unique to the city-state.
At the same time, the Mandala Club is also hosting a curated collection of Labrooy’s artwork where visitors can explore a selection of the Scottish artist’s work, renowned for his highly realistic renderings and car-centric art. The club’s space is temporarily transformed into an experiential brand space in a format where fans can fully immerse themselves in the Porsche experience.
As part of a collaboration between Porsche and Mandala Club, Daniel Arsham’s Crystal Eroded Porsche 992 will be on display from the 6th to the 15th of January at the private member’s club where visitors can get up close and personal with the highly realistic display of an eroded off-white 911 embedded with pieces of quartz and pyrite crystals. Inside, the bespoke earth-tone stone-washed canvas interiors feature upholstery dotted with Arsham’s drawings.
Porsche fans will also have something to take home from the occasion. As part of the collaboration with Mandala Club, exclusive merchandise by both artists will be on sale where proceeds of the merchandise will go to SCAPE, a Singaporean non-profit organisation in support of a local youth programme in the areas of creative arts, media, entertainment, entrepreneurship and careers.
The Porsche “Art of Dreams” is open to the public at Silver Leaf, Gardens by the Bay from 5:00 am to 12:00 am every day, from 6th to 15th January 2023.
The “Crystal Eroded Porsche 992“ by Daniel Arsham will be on display at Mandala Club from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm every day except Mondays, from 6th to 15th January 2023.
