Designed to deliver an elevated home-away-from-home experience that centering comfort and delights, Marina Bay Sands’ latest rooms and suites are an experience of tranquillity at the heart of Singapore. Tower 1 and Tower 2, the jewels of Marina Bay’s recent development and refurbishment projects—with a staggering investment of $1.3 billion—these towers are set to redefine the definition of ‘modern luxury’ for all travellers.
When I first stepped into the newly renovated Marina Bay Sands Lobby, I was immediately captivated by the awe-inspiring architectural masterpiece. The building showcases a perfect blend of contemporary and luxury. I learned that Tower 1 and Tower 2 housed three types of rooms and suites, each meticulously crafted to cater to the desires and comfort of its guests. Whether one sought a breathtaking view of the Gardens by The Bay or a serene panorama of the city skyline, every room offered a picturesque setting that would undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
I was given the Sands Premier Room at Tower 1, which faces the city skyline. Complete with top-notch in-room amenities and intimate lighting settings that are truly next level, each corner of the room carries a timeless and balanced design, creating a unique yet composed spaces—further highlighting the property’s main goal to provide guests with a homely and spacious atmosphere.
The lavish King Size bed is the focal point of this spacious 45 sqm room, which was designed to accommodate two adults and a toddler. The room is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a magnificent 75″ TV and a phone charging table that eliminates the need for cords or chargers. To take full advantage of the breathtaking views, two plush chairs are strategically placed in front of the expansive window, allowing me to enjoy the vibrant colours of sunrise and the serene hues of sunset. A cosy long seater is also positioned at the foot of the bed. For added convenience, there’s a speaker which connects directly from the TV to the bathroom.
Speaking of bathrooms – tranquillity and elegance reign supreme. The subdued and neutral hues create an ambiance that perfectly complements my bathing experience. The expansive bathroom boasts a bathtub, a refreshing rain shower, and separate vanities, all meticulously crafted to exude modern luxury.
Sitting pretty at the corner of the room, you’ll find a sophisticated cocktail trolley adorned with an array of pre-mixed classic cocktails – allowing you to effortlessly host your own intimate night-in with your partner. This trolley even comes with all the necessary garnishes, a sleek cocktail shaker, and a stirrer. But what truly captivates me is the lavish Oriental-inspired minibar Armoire. This luxurious piece challenges the conventional hotel minibar with its unique features. Each drawer within the Armoire not only houses delectable snacks and a selection of teas but also a porcelain teapot set and plush leather compartments. Even the Nespresso coffee machine and its accompanying pods are enveloped in a sophisticated light grey leather.
Marina Bay Sands has also taken great care to ensure that they’re prioritising sustainability by going above and beyond and becoming the largest hotel in Singapore to be certified by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). In their efforts to be environmentally friendly, Marina Bay Sands has incorporated a sustainable material all around the property. This includes not only in the construction of the hotel but also in the amenities provided to guests. For example, dental kits, hairbrushes, and combs are all made from bamboo.
Another interesting sustainable feature that Marina Bay Sands has implemented is the use of a wooden block made from 75 locally recycled chopsticks in every guest room, for when they wish to request for a change of bed linen. These inventive ways of implementing sustainability-driven initiatives help reduce the impact on the environment without compromising on the overall guest experience.
Overall, Marina Bay Sands is truly a gem in the heart of Singapore. My stay there for three days and two nights was nothing short of luxurious, with every detail carefully thought out to provide the utmost comfort and indulgence. The recent renovations have only added to the property’s allure, positioning it as a serious contender in the competitive luxury market.
