In case you missed it, Apple announced its new high-end iPhone models, the 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max at about 1 am Malaysian time on 13 September at the “Wonderlust” launch event. Rumours have swirled about this device for some time now and it’s finally here. Besides the iPhone 15 series, the event also saw the launch of the new watch series, Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Unlike the iPhone 14, of which the camera advancement was among its most significant updated features, the iPhone 15 sees several transformational changes with its new models. Apart from the stunning design and performance upgrades, there’s one thing that everyone is appreciating – the stunning colours in which the iPhone 15 comes in.
From the new features to the increased price changes, here’s everything to know about the newest iPhone series.
What does the iPhone 15 look like?
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have a new design that features a durable, colour-infused back glass and contoured edge – in addition to the Dynamic Island (the pill-shaped area on top of the phone’s display) and an advanced 48MP Main camera. Both models are available in the following colours: pink, yellow, green, blue and black. A perfect mix of bright and subtle finishes.
Slightly different from the aforementioned two models, the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max feature a strong and lightweight titanium design with new contoured edges, a new customisable Action button, powerful camera upgrades and A17 Pro for next-level mobile gaming. The models are available in four different colours namely Black Titanium, White Titanium, Blue Titanium and Natural Titanium. As expected from a high-end iPhone, the colours look pretty luxe.
The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro are the same relatively compact 6.1-inch size, while the iPhone 15 Plus and Pro Max are larger and heavier at 6.7 inches.
What new features will the iPhone 15 have?
The iPhone 15 series includes various updated features, specifically the Pro modes. The Pro and Pro Max are powered by A17 Pro, the industry’s first 3-nanometre chip, which makes the product “noticeably faster.” It also features enhanced battery and technology, in addition to improved camera technology.
The Pro models feature powerful camera upgrades that give users “the equivalent of seven pro lenses with incredible image quality.” In addition to a new high-res main camera, the Pro phones include improved Focus and Depth Control, Night mode, Smart HDR and 5x Telephoto camera.
There’s also the introduction of the Action button on the two Pro models. This button replaces the mute switch, a staple of the iPhone series since the very first one launched in 2007. The Action button is a customisable button that can launch apps, toggle system settings and more. Note that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus still have the traditional mute switch.
The iPhone 15 series now comes with a USB-C charging port instead of the previously used Lightning connector – the same port built into Android smartphone models. This change will likely enhance the speed of wired connections across the board.
How much does the iPhone 15 cost?
The iPhone 15 is priced from RM4,399 and the iPhone 15 Plus is priced from RM4,899. Both models are available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. The iPhone 15 Pro is priced from RM5,499 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is priced from RM6,499. The Pro models are available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.
