Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has announced that Elon Musk has decided to not join the company’s board of directors. This news arrives only a week after Elon Musk teased “significant changes” to the company after taking a 9.2% stake in Twitter shares, which makes the abrupt rejection from Musk all the more surprising.
Twitter CEO, Parag Agrawal, tweeted last week about his excitement for Elon Musk to join the board of directors at Twitter. Believe that Elon is a “passionate believer” and an “intense critic of the service”, which would be valuable to the board and important in the long-term for the company.
Following up on his last tweet, Parag Agrawal announces Elon’s rejection of a seat on the board. “I sent a brief note to the company, sharing with you all here”, tweets Parag Agrawal, who shares a note discussing Elon’s rejection yesterday.

Musk, who had been tweeting about making several changes to the service over the weekend, has now deleted the tweets. According to TechCrunch, Musk tweeted several suggestions which included “giving an authentication checkmark to anyone who subscribes to the company’s $3 monthly subscription service, Twitter Blue ”, while also rejecting advertisements on the service and continuing to outline the features of Twitter Blue.
In a now-deleted tweet, Elon Musk had also suggested converting Twitter’s headquarters into a homeless shelter which got the attention of Amazon.com Inc’s founder, Jeff Bezos who agreed with the idea. The several deleted tweets and sudden rejection of a seat on the board raises further speculation about his future with the company.
