Christian Dior is all poised to add lustre to the Big Apple this year.
The French luxury maison is set to unveil its Pre-Fall 2024 women’s collection at the prestigious Brooklyn Museum in New York this coming April 15. Paying homage to the unfaltering liaison that has held Dior entwined with the United States, the collection parades over 100 sublime looks. The House’s native metropolis Paris shares a unique connection with New York City – both are renowned fashion cities where style and glamour exist all around.
The collection – dreamed up by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the artistic director of Dior women’s haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories ranges – is a canvas which blends the House’s elegance with the vogue. Playing muse for the eclectic line is German-American star Marlene Dietrich who was famed for her trailblazing modern style – remarkably dreamlike with a boyish charm, the actress knew how to make a statement. The line is a telling testament to the creative spirit of Dietrich and her stunning scandal-raising garments, pairing structured blazers with wide-leg pants and pencil skirts.
Dior’s newest collection, featuring an array of fabrics, weaves and flair of the 40s, resummons the English-sown tweed, crushed velvet and light satin and incorporates them into the House’s refreshing silhouettes. Other gems fashioned for the range include nylon lace-encrusted slip dresses adorned with Dior’s signature cannage motif and below-the-knee dresses impressed with the two landmark structures.
The soignée collection symbolises a crucial conversation on freedom – all that women wish to be lie in their hands – and the possibilities are endless.
