From now till March 7, you could share the presence of the long-anticipated lucky number 8 at BMW Luxury Excellence Pavilion, in front of Mandarin Oriental KL.
For the first time in Southeast Asia, BMW fans have the chance to cosy up to the long-awaited BMW Concept 8 Series right here in KL.
The teaser for the German automaker’s upcoming line is presented exclusively at the BMW Luxury Excellence Pavilion. Igniting fascination in its distinct product category, BMW is showcasing its flagship models to redefine the luxury driving experience so synonymous to its brand.
Harold Krüger, BMW Group AG, described the number 8 as the pinnacle of sports performance and exclusivity. Managing director and CEO of BMW Group Malaysia, Han Sang Yun, added, “The upcoming BMW 8 Series Coupé is certainly one to look out for (to be released this year), but for now, the BMW Concept 8 Series will express our take on a full-blooded high-end driving machine created in the tradition of large sport coupes.”

Although technical details have yet to be confirmed, core design elements defining the BMW Concept 8 Series are hard to miss. Crisp lines outline a powerful structure, headed by a menacing kidney grille that widens towards the bottom. It is flanked by super-slim twin laser headlights. You’ll also spot large air intakes in the front and sides, lined with carbon fiber lending a touch of undeniable sportiness.
A beauty from all angles, the BMW Concept 8 Series boasts powerful wheel arches hinting dynamic talent and confirming rear-wheel drive. The passenger cell tapers ever so seamlessly towards exaggerated tail lights, forming L-shaped blades projecting teasingly from the rear. These design elements highlight the lucky number 8’s style of muscular sportiness, also prominently captured with a dark carbon-fibre diffuser and trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes.
Inside, clear graphic structure is emphasised by a fluid design code. Perhaps the most striking element is the smoky Swarovski glass iDrive Controller against carbon fibre and polished aluminium accents. BMW luxury racing performance is brought to life with leather sport seats, red-anodised shift paddles, and an altogether track-inspired driver experience.
BMW Concept 8 Series comes in Barcelona Grey Liquid exterior and Dark Brown or Fjord White merino leather interior. The model is only likely to reach our shores next year.
BMW Luxury Excellence Pavilion is presented with Dior, Hugo Boss, Moet Hennessy Diageo, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Wei-Ling Gallery, Leica, illy Coffee, and SPACE. The one-of-a kind experiential programme is positioned smack in the city centre in front of Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. Pop by for a visit from now till March 7 for a first glimpse at the future of BMW.
