In 2018, Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore turns 25, a milestone the Swiss watchmaker is celebrating with 3 new versions.
Few watches last decades, and even fewer sports watches make the cut.
That alone stands Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore apart. Since its introduction in 1993, it has seen over 120 references of its 42mm model lauched in various metals ranging from stainless steel and titanium to gold and platinum.
In 2018, the iconic sports rendition of the maison’s Royal Oak turns 25, a milestone the Swiss watchmaker is celebrating with 3 new versions of the Offshore – a re-edition of the original Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph and a brand new Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph with a contemporary dial design developed in two versions.
A new classic
Twenty five years after it was first launched, the Royal Oak Offshore still manages to reveal new creative dimensions, by looking back to its past.
This re-edition of the original Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph comes in a 42mm stainless steel case reminiscent of its original predecessor, complete with a glare-proof sapphire crystal front and back case. On the back, it is engraved with the ‘Royal Oak Offshore’ logo in the centre.
Contemporary subtleties give it its niche – its elegant blue dial dressed with a ‘petite tapisserie’ pattern comes with matching lbue counters, white gold applied hour-markers and the Royal Oak hands that glow with luminescent coating.
Its chronograph, hours, minutes, small seconds and date are easily adjustable with blue rubber-clad pushpieces, disguised by screw-locked crowns. It is mounted on a stainless steel bracelet with AP folding clasp and is water resistant to 100m.
Contemporary and bold
Those looking forward to something new won’t be disappointed either, with the Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph that boasts a new dial constructed as a piece of contemporary architecture.
A black dial entices with the full transparency of its tourbillon, chronograph, 30-minute ocunter, seconds counter, hours and minutes functions under a glare-proof sapphire crystal and caseback. Matching black ceramic screw-locked crown and pushpieces adorn the 45mm stainless steel case.
This model is offered in two versions, one with stainless steel bezel and another in pink gold. Both are mounted on a black rubber straps, secured with stainless steel or pink gold buckles respectively. Each version is available in a limited edition of only 50 pieces each.
