Tucked away in the Finnish north amidst the thick blankets of snow is Santa Claus’ Official Post Office. Situated in Rovaniemi where the Northern Lights reign the skies, the sorting centre foresees over 30,000 letters daily this winter from children and adults from every corner of the world. Clearly, the most wonderful time of the year is also the busiest one in this wintry land.
Now, have you ever dreamt of setting foot in the North Pole and becoming one of Santa’s little helpers? Look no further as your time has finally arrived – thanks to Airbnb, Santa Claus’ Cabin has been listed open for guests, and that too, with no charge! Tis’ the time to get your elf sleeves rolled up, help sort Saint Nick’s mail and revel in endless festive joy.
The stay itinerary.
Following a crash course in ‘elfing’ (yes, that is an actual term here!) provided by Katja, the Chief Elf of Santa Claus’ Main Post Office and Airbnb host, guests will dive right into their tasks. Imagine this: going through stacks of letters holding the hopes and wish lists of tens of thousands. Basically, you’ll have to make sure that the gifts reach their deserving recipients. To do that, you’d be cross checking with the man in red’s legendary naughty and nice list – checking them twice!
That’s not all, though. From emptying mailboxes to placing the much-anticipated Arctic Circle postmark on the post before it’s sent to Santa Claus, you’ll master your elf duties in no time. Beyond the exciting Post Office experience, guests will be served sumptuous traditional Finnish meals, a thrilling snowmobile session, and an unforgettable trip to observe the Aurora Borealis. Finally, as a sweet ending to the stay, guests will indulge themselves in a traditional sauna, the pinnacle Finnish experience.
The three-night abode.
After the eventful hours, you’ll get to simply sit back and unwind in Santa Claus’ Cabin, located a quick jump away from the Post Office. The specially designed room is nothing short of a Yuletide dream come true. Donning traditional Lapland adornments such as handwoven rugs, a full-closet of elf clothes and numerous festive flourishes, the room is a cosy haven within the Arctic depths.
Speaking on the stay, Katja commented: “The elves have been working around the clock to transform Santa Claus’ Cabin into a winter wonderland. We want this to be a magical and immersive experience for a family in search of the ultimate yuletide experience.” She is thrilled for the new elf recruits to catch a good glimpse of what takes place behind the scenes in Father Christmas’ town.
To make the festive season all the more magical, Airbnb has decided to raise awareness on children with special needs. The company will be making a one time-donation to a one-time donation to Special Children’s Omaiset ELO, a peer support organisation for Lappish children and young people with special needs and their loved ones.
A once-in-a lifetime opportunity awaits you in the North Pole, promising a very bright and merry adventure!
