The collection, which is estimated to be worth millions, includes names like Alex Israel, Dan Colen, Nate Lowman, Alex Da Corte and David Ostrowski.
The latest news to shake the art world isn’t a rediscovered Monet or the resurfacing of a centuries-lost Picasso.
It’s Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump’s art collection, estimated to be worth millions, which got the couple into hot soup due to their failure to financially disclose its worth recently.
The law requires federal employees like Kushner, the senior advisor and son-in-law to President Trump, to disclose artwork if it is bought for investment and is worth upward of US$1,000. Things are complicated, however, since said disclosure is not required for works bought for personal enjoyment.
Jared and Ivanka have not been known to trade art but neither are they strangers to the market – their collection is bought with help of art advisor Alex Marshall, a prominent name in the auction circuit. The couple have also on a few accounts hosted dinners for Sotheby’s and attended sales at Christie’s, among others.
Since their wedding in 2009, the couple have amassed a formidable collection that frequently makes appearances on Ivanka’s social media. The collection includes names ranging from blue-chip to emerging artists, among them Alex Israel, Dan Colen, Nate Lowman, Alex Da Corte and David Ostrowski.
Here are some of them:
