The 94th Academy Awards ceremony has just officially wrapped, marking an eventful close to this year’s awards season. In a much-welcomed return to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s biggest night, the celebrations took place at Dolby Theatre in full capacity, after 2021’s significantly quieter, socially distanced ceremony.
Female comedian trio Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall took on hosting duties for the evening, breaking the ceremony’s three-year streak of having no host. Coming-of-age dramedy CODA took home the Best Picture, though this year’s top nominees ran the gamut from the artful Japanese road-film “Drive My Car” to Netflix’s dark-comedy apocalypse movie “Don’t Look Up”.
Will Smith’s first Oscar win for Best Actor was already noteworthy on its own, however it was his altercation with presenter Chris Rock that will likely go down as one of the night’s most memorable moments.
