If you love football, sports cars, and gaming – then this goes out to all you out there. The latest addition to Lamborghini’s V10 range, the Huracán STO is making its debut on Rocket League, the multi-platform, arcade-style video game that has won over 150 “Best Game” awards worldwide.
Psyonix, the production company behind Rocket League, chose the Huracán STO for its unique design that’s inspired by Lamborghini racing cars. Naturally, given the nature of the game (for non-gamers, you basically play football with sports cars), the car was also favoured for its benchmark performance figures: a top speed of 310 km/h and acceleration from 1 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds.
From today through 27 April 2021, the virtual version of the Huracán STO is available for gamers from all over the world, and will be used to compete in the Battle of the Bulls during the Rocket League Championship Series X Lamborghini Open, of which Automobili Lamborghini is the official sponsor.
The purchased package includes the car in striking Blu Laufey and Arancio California, and with different liveries and customisation options. The package is completed by the roar of the engine, two sets of tyres, and the exclusive “Huracán STO Player Banner” and “antenna” systems developed by Psyonix.
“The debut of the Huracán STO in the world of Rocket League is a further step in the digital strategy of Lamborghini, which entered eSports in 2020 with its own one-make championship,” commented Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Gaming and simulation are phenomena of particular interest to the automotive industry, important for engaging the new generations and making ours cars even more popular with young people.”
“Battle of the Bulls” will be played in a five-match series from 23 – 25 April, and fans can tune into the action live on Twitch. The best Rocket League gamers will compete in a series of one-on-one matches, an event format created for Lamborghini, and each winner will receive a prize of US$5,000.
