The Academy Awards returned early this morning, celebrating the best films of 2025 in what is widely considered Hollywood’s biggest night. Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the ceremony brought together the year’s biggest stars, filmmakers and industry insiders as the Academy revealed the winners across its major categories. From historic milestones to surprise upsets, this year’s Oscars delivered plenty of moments that kept audiences watching until the final envelope.
Heading into the night, Sinners dominated the conversation with a record-breaking 16 nominations – the most ever received by a single film in Oscar history – surpassing the previous record of 14 held by classics like Titanic and La La Land.
Close behind was One Battle After Another with 13 nominations, making the two films the clear frontrunners across several major categories. The nominations also marked a milestone for representation, with Sinners earning a record number of nominations for Black artists involved in a single film.
Another major talking point this year was the Best Actor race, where Timothée Chalamet earned a nomination for Marty Supreme, becoming the youngest actor since Marlon Brando to receive three acting nominations and one of the youngest ever nominated for both acting and producing in the same year. Despite early buzz around his performance, expectations for a win appeared to soften in the lead-up to the ceremony following recent controversies and shifting awards-season predictions.
After an impressive run throughout this year’s awards season, K-Pop Demon Hunters also made headlines at the Oscars, with its track Golden making history as the first K-pop song to win Best Original Song – marking a major milestone for the global rise of the genre. Read on for the full list of winners from the 2026 Oscars.
