As the Ramadan season draws near, the anticipation to start planning your iftar gatherings escalates and the whole city begins hunting down the best restaurants to enjoy lavish dinners.
Don’t crack your head on where to indulge and look no further than the lavish InterContinental Kuala Lumpur hotel and its extensive buffet spread – Santai-Santai di Serena – featuring an array of cuisines including traditional Malay flavours, Chinese dishes, Italian cooking, and more, all curated by Executive Chef Rudy Junaidie and his dedicated culinary team.
Savour a wide selection of cuisines

Santai-Santai di Serena brings together distinct Malaysian, Asian, European and American food cultures to pamper diners with unlimited food choices. Each buffet station serves an array of dishes from around the globe like barbeque beef ribs cooked with traditional spice mix, Hainanese chicken rice, Italian pasta, claypot roasted duck, and lamb marinated with Chinese spice served on Biryani rice, to name a few.
Some signature must-try dishes to look out for

To commemorate the month of Ramadan, the highlight of the buffet is the Gulai Assam Rong-style Claypot Roasted Duck, which is a traditional village dish originally from Pahang. This classic delicacy features tender duck simmered with unique ingredients like pea eggplant, tapioca leaves, lady’s finger, rare seasonal perah fruit, and rubber seed.
Also a must-try is the Rendang Minang Smoked Barbecue Beef Ribs that’s infused with authentic Malay spices and served with roasted root vegetables and sauces.
Additionally, the Xinjiang Whole Lamb with Bukhari Biryani Rice is also a highlight of the spread. A whole lamb, marinated with cumin, Szechuan peppercorn, and Chinese spices is roasted to perfection. It is served with fragrant Bukhari biryani rice, tomato and cucumber salad, mint raita, mint coriander, and rosemary sauce to create a fusion of Chinese-Indian flavours.

If you prefer something Western, then opt for the Baked Honey-glazed Chicken. The poultry is marinated for 12 hours before the baking process and is served with Executive Chef Rudy Junaidie’s signature plum sauce.
The culinary adventure flows into more enticing selection of traditional Malaysian specialities like Lemang, Kuah Kacang, Beef Rendang Tok, Bubur Lambuk, and Ketupat. Next to this counter lies the premium seafood spread like prawns, clams, oysters, and more.
End your culinary journey on a sweet note at the desert island table, where a parade of traditional Malaysian kuih and Western tarts come together.
