Another celebrity-brand business is about to enter the world of beauty. But this time, we’re not complaining. On May 16, Beyoncé posted an Instagram carousel with three images and no caption, but each group of photos she meticulously selects holds a lot of significance.
The three-part carousel photo features a makeup-free Queen Bey who was seen ironing her natural curls in front of a vanity, followed by a younger Bey getting her side-swept cornrows, and a poignant statement announcing the launch. The image also includes a slew of bottles and containers, which we assume are product samples for what’s to come.
The announcement-note began with, “How many of ya’ll knew my first job was sweeping hair in my mama’s salon? […] Destiny’s Child got our start by performing for clients while they were getting their hair done. I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon.’’
As someone who is continuously exposed to Hollywood’s limelight, Beyoncé is no stranger to the public’s referencement as a beauty icon. Her hair has played an important role in the tale of her career—from her glory era of Destiny’s Child to the Renaissance Queen that she is today—whether worn loose, plaited, wavy, straight blonde or brunette, she knows how to capture the attention of fans.
She closed off her announcement with, ‘’I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls. I watched her heal and be of service to so many women. Having learned so much on my hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy […] I can’t wait for you to experience what I’ve been creating.”
And, as a symbol of authentic elegance, Beyoncé’s decision to contribute to the hair discussion while advertising salons’ allure as a safe haven is the best decision she ever made.
