As part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Salvatore Ferragamo is proud to unveil the Rainbow Future sandal – its first shoe inspired by the principles of sustainability.
Inspired by the original Rainbow sandal in 1938 – a signature of the house made in suede for actress Judy Garland, the sandal honours the Made in Italy tradition while initiating a step towards sustainable fashion.
Its hand-finished platform is made out of veritable wood, crafted in organic crocheted cotton (certified in accordance with the strict environmental and social Global Organic Textile Standard criteria), and lined in leather finished with no carbon dioxide emission or water consumption (Layertech technology).
The sewing thread used in making the sandal is also 100% recyclable. It is completed with water glue and non-galvanised brass, both of which are sustainable materials. Even the packaging – 100% biodegradable cotton bags and 100% recyclable FSC cardboard shoeboxes – check the eco-friendly criteria.
The Rainbow Future sandal is a limited edition, with only 100 pairs available under the prestigious Ferragamo’s Creations collection. This collection exclusively draws from the exceptional archives kept in Florence’s Palazzo Spini Feroni, at the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, and continues to a reintroduce the brand’s best-known designs in new models, shapes and materials.

The code will be allow its user to follow the life and development of the paired tree at www.Treedom.net, a symbolic gift from Salvatore Ferragamo to the clients who buy the shoe.
