Cats will be the fifth Lloyd Webber musical on ‘The Shows Must Go On’ YouTube channel, following Phantom of the Opera and this week’s Love Never Dies.
If you didn’t manage to catch the Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera on YouTube last weekend, you missed out big time. But we know just the cure for your #FOMO, as the impresario’s other hit musical, Cats, will be coming to YouTube this May.
Based on the 1939 Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot, Cats is an anthology-style musical that details the story of a tribe of cats called the “Jellicles”. Set on the night of the Jellicle Ball, they make what is known as “the Jellicle choice” to decide who will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.
This will be the fifth Lloyd Webber musical on ‘The Shows Must Go On’ YouTube channel, a free online streaming series introduced as a result of theatres being forced to temporarily close during the UK lockdown.
The stream will be available here for 48 hours worldwide starting May 1st. Donations are welcome and will benefit The Actor’s Fund.
Alternatively, you can also catch the sequel to Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies this weekend. It will stream from 24th April, 7pm UK time (25th April, 2am Malaysian time) for 48 hours only, so don’t forget to set your reminders!
