Who knew a show about celebrities getting interviewed while eating increasingly spicy wings would make for a great watch-spotting opportunity? First We Feast’s Hot Ones is an American Youtube talk show hosted by Sean Evans who attempts to get his guests to open up by firing them up with chicken wings doused in spicy hot sauce.
While the camera zooms in on each guest as they wince in pain from the hot sauce, it’s hard to not pay particular attention to their wrists, especially when we spot some serious timepieces on show. Here’s a look at some of the watches that caught our eye:
Simu Liu’s IWC Portugieser Automatic
The Marvel star sported a sleek IWC Portugieser Automatic in black dial and a 42mm stainless steel polished case. The watch is one of IWC’s more modern classic silhouettes with its slender feuille hands. The timepiece is powered by the house’s 52010 calibre movement and makes for a practical statement piece as illustrated by Mr Liu here. IWC Schaffhausen
Nick Jonas’ Rolex GMT – Master II
Nick Jonas has been spotted wearing this bold number on several red carpet occasions in the past, but we managed to get a closer look at his Rolex GMT Master II as he wipes the sweat off his brow on the show. The 18k yellow gold and black dial comes with a cool two-tone Cerachrom bezel insert in grey and black ceramic. Powered by the 3285 calibre, it comes with 70 hours power reserve. An absolute stunner of a piece, like its wearer. Rolex
Jake Gyllenhaal’s Santos de Cartier
Cartier made him a poster boy for the revamped Santos, so it comes as no surprise Jake Gyllenhaal made his debut on Hot Ones with a gorgeous Santos de Cartier two-tone in yellow gold and steel as he demolished his share of spicy chicken wings. We love the steel-sword-shaped hands that add elegance to this piece even if we wouldn’t necessarily describe Gyllenhasl’s spicy wing etiquette as that. Cartier
Kevin Hart’s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore
What does one wear when facing a platter of insanely spicy wings? Something to show you’re made of the tough stuff, of course. Comedian Kevin Hart (and well-known watch collector), wore the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore to take on the “wings of death”. This ceramic and rose gold piece is distinct for its strong lines and robust design and slightly sporty aesthetic and can make you feel like you can take on anything. Audemars Piguet
Kieran Culkin’s Rolex Datejust
It’s something Culkin’s Succession character, Roman Roy wouldn’t look amiss in. The Rolex Datejust M126300 – 0017 in azzuro blue dial and oyster steel bracelet is the perfect every-occasion timepiece and we like to think the cool-toned dial could have helped Culkin keep his cool as he devours the spicy wings. The dial features a sunray finish that creates pretty light reflections when it hits the light. Simple, sleek and super elegant. Rolex
Megan Thee Stallion’s Rolex Sky-Dweller
The rapper knew her wrist would be getting a lot of airtime on Hot Ones, so why not go all-out bling? As one should. The rapper sported this stunning Rolex Sky-Dweller in 18k yellow gold. Now that is a statement piece. Rolex
Ramy Youssef’s Cartier Tank Française
Another Cartier appearance was seen on comedian and writer Ramy Youssef who wore an elegant Cartier Tank Française in what looks possibly like the large model in stainless steel and is one of the most popular and accessible Cartier models. We love how it’s styled down with Youssef’s streetwear-inspired look on the show but manages to add a touch of sophistication to his outfit. Cartier
Ed Sheeran’s Patek Philippe 5207G-019
It’s no secret that the musician is a die-hard watch enthusiast and collector. For the show, Sheeran wore a Patek Philippe 5207G-019, as one should when confronting flaming hot wings. The cool blue sunburst dial is juxtapositioned beautifully with the white-gold case. It’s also the only Patek watch to combine a minute repeater, a tourbillon and an instantaneous perpetual calendar with an aperture display. Patek Philippe
