Coach has just launched its Winter 2023 collection titled “The Lil Nas X Drop”, and it’s nothing short of a cultural remix. Stuart Vevers, the creative mastermind behind the luxury brand, continues to redefine American heritage, this time with a nod to the vibrant energy of youth counterculture. The collection is mainly made up of casual and cosy style garments, and accessories in vibrant colours that have been “selected and customised” by the rapper.
Featuring an array of bright, acidic hues, the collection features electric blue and fuzzy pink bags alongside leather silhouettes, taking inspiration from 90s rave culture, classic American archetypes and, of course, Lil Nas X’s style. His unique style and colour sensibility have been key inspirations.
There are shearling coats in poppy colours, graphics inspired by concert merch and an American varsity jacket personalised with patches with symbols from the rapper’s life, like his pet cats and Aries zodiac sign. Other highlights of the collection are leather shoes and outerwear, paired with acetate sweatshirts and T-shirts reminiscent of the rave culture.
Vevers shares, “Our Winter collection is inspired by my belief that fashion is about exploring and celebrating all of who you are.” He adds, “To create the collection, we twisted the Coach archives and were also inspired by Lil Nas X’s connection to music and nightlife. We evolved heritage styles introduced on the runway last season by amplifying color, texture and graphics to create pieces that celebrate our love for individuality and authentic self-expression that we share.”
The Lil Nas X Drop is now available at all Coach stores nationwide and online.
