Fashion shows are back with New York Fashion Week leading the way.
The burst of fresh prints and bright colours couldn’t have articulated the uplift in spirits the rest of the world is feeling – ourselves included
In line with the hope, brands have been dedicating collections geared towards a return to normalcy. Moschino premiered outfits made for ladies who lunch, Tory Burch celebrated a new season with a Block Party downtown, while Coach took us on a throwback to the retro good times of 1941.
Here’s a look at all the shows that got us ready to embrace fashion shows again.
COACH
The show marked the house’s return to the runway in New York City and included a special episode of “Coach TV: Public Access” made in collaboration with Coach Family. The collection debut, broadcast live around the world on the house’s brand channels, evolved the house’s innovative hybrid approach to the runway, combining a live show with its popular digital format to celebrate the enduring spirit and creative energy of New York City in a bold new way. This new chapter of Vevers’ vision for the house celebrates the shared progressive attitude of Coach’s first head designer Bonnie Cashin—the creative pioneer behind the iconic turnlock—and the next generation. An expression of the role Coach has played in shaping the legacy of American style, the collection explores ready-to-wear and bags from Cashin’s archives reimagined with Vevers’ vision of American classics, subverted through the lens of now.
Michael Kors
Urban romance was the theme of Michael Kors’ Spring/Summer 2022 Collection. From the location at Tavern on the Green in the heart of Central Park, to a performance by musical star Ariana DeBose, to the spotlight given the charitable organisation God’s Love We Deliver, and of course, the clothes themselves, the show was a celebration of love. Included on the runway: a special cashmere sweater designed as an homage to God’s Love We Deliver, an organisation near and dear to Michael’s heart. Founded by Ganga
Stone and Jane Best in 1985, God’s Love cooks and home-delivers free medically tailored meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other serious illnesses throughout the New York City metropolitan area. In March 2020, they were named an essential services provider, and are now cooking and delivering more than 10,000 meals a day.
Tory Burch

Right in front of its Mercer Street New York store, Tory Burch turned the space into a block party of a runway where models paraded down cobbled streets and guests sat by the walkway next to flower stands. It was a celebration of New York coming back to life right where it matters – in the streets of the every day.
Moschino

For Spring/Summer 2022, Moschino’s Creative Director Jeremy Scott steps into a reverie that’s proper—but not exactly prim. In reworking house founder Franco Moschino’s classic suits and separates, Scott’s imagination carries the Moschino woman to a dainty fashion pasture abounding with nostalgia and novelty. Illustrated animal prints highlight the designer’s sartorial nursery rhyme. Its main characters include: bears flying kites, poodles with flower crowns, happy-go-lucky seals balancing striped beach balls, and giraffes pulling trolleys chock-full of blossoms. Scalloped edges in fauna shapes, as well as character buttons—like a tiger, a cotton-candy colored butterfly, and a skunk holding a daisy—decorate the make-believe. “Sweet dreams,” Scott notes, “are indeed made of these.” The fantasy, though, plays across silhouettes that are unfussy and classic. Matching skirts-and-jackets (some with widened U-neck collars, some unfastened to show bustier bralettes beneath), babydoll coats, and knitted dresses and separates are Spring’s key silhouettes.
