The spirit of the holidays is being redefined by LOEWE’s latest collection — a vibrant celebration of craft and whimsy. Embodying the essence of craft and the spirit of giving, the collection is introduced in a short documentary film by Yusuke Ishida, inviting us to explore a curated world where whimsy reigns supreme.
After previous successful collaborations with Studio Ghibli and Swiss sneaker brand On, the luxury brand is ending its year off with a collection that parallels spirited characters from Suna Fujita, a Kyoto-based ceramic studio. Suna Fujita is the brainchild of artists Chisato Yamano and Shohei Fujita, whose artwork draws on childhood memories, imaginative reveries and life with their son and pet dog. They weave storylines by hand-painting into everyday ceramic pieces. Their latest work transforms ordinary teapots and plates into enchanting, otherworldly objects, inspired by whimsical animals and natural landscapes.
Suna Fujita takes the holiday collection to the next level, interweaving the couple’s signature artwork featuring rich sceneries and sweeping storytelling into LOEWE’s iconic bags and accessories. A standout piece is the deep-green Hammock bag, now a canvas for a heartwarming scene of a child, birds and pandas, brought to life through skilled leather marquetry. Another fun graphic take on a classic LOEWE bag sees lemurs decorating the Puzzle. There are also plenty more small leather goods like wallets and card cases embellished with Fujita and Yamano’s artworks.
LOEWE’s holiday offerings also play with proportions in high-waisted fashion across genders, while injecting bold colour into everyday staples like Argyle knits. The brand’s craftsmanship shines through in the Squeeze bag’s soft leathers and the sparkle of tiny crystals adorning footwear and accessories.
Notably, a portion of the proceeds from the holiday collection series will be donated to the “Save Children’s Education in Emergency Situations” program, which aims to create a secure learning environment for children in crisis situations.
