Italian luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana anticipates the advent of its breathtaking exhibition, soon to grace the neoclassical Palazzo Reale in Milan. The spectacle shall recount the metamorphosis of the ideas derived from the hearts of virtuosos Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana into extraordinary fashion creations realised by hands. Aptly titled ‘From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce & Gabbana’, the exhibition accents the House’s stature as an emblem of Italian style.
With its dedication on April 7 to a culminating date of July 31, 2024, this showcase promises a thorough exploration of the duo’s creative quests, manifested in the House’s one-of-a-kind custom creations. As patrons are invited to wander Palazzo Reale’s hallowed halls of the Palazzo Reale, they bear witness to Dolce & Gabbana’s masterpieces alongside the meticulous processes and ingenuity that bring each piece to life – a subtle yet intimate connection then binds the audience with the splendour that is Dolce & Gabbana’s unparalleled craft.
Once the seat of government of Milan, Palazzo Reale serves today as an esteemed cultural centre that often houses international art exhibitions. A grand joint effort led to the production and curation of the exhibition – Palazzo Reale and global events leader IMG turn producers while author and fashion history professor Florence Müller is poised to curate the showcase. The art of storytelling grounds the entire project – from the values of Fatto a Mano (hand-made) that have blossomed with the House since its inception to their Alta Moda (High Fashion) aspirations that have uplifted their finesse, the exhibition will explore Dolce & Gabbana’s brilliant reiteration of traditional artisanship with contemporary strokes.
Dolce & Gabbana’s unconventional yet profound approach to the world of luxury pervades the exhibition – elegant and unique, yet simultaneously forward and rebellious, the House’s versatility sets it apart by leaps and bounds. During the exhibition, patrons will be invited to watch how conceptual sketches slowly become final products, emphasising both on the designers’ hands-on technique and the artisans who work tirelessly in realising the designs.
As the showcase progresses in sections, the House’s iconic designs that have debuted on runways and donned by celebrities will be on display, from the lavishly adorned Alta Moda collections to bolder statement pieces that underline their impeccable range.
Throughout the show, archives and collections will feature the many layers of Italian culture that have inspired the founders of Dolce & Gabbana – including arts and architecture, exclusively Italian traditions, traditions of Italy, artisanal craft as well as Opera, Ballet and la dolce vita.
