The word ‘iconic’ is often thrown around lackadaisically – but Louis Vuitton’s Monogram undoubtedly earns the title. The overlapped logo motif has become a timeless emblem of the House – and this year, it is celebrating its 130th anniversary, marking a new milestone for the Maison’s cultural powerhouse.
Reinterpretations of a timeless legacy

Louis Vuitton’s son, Georges Vuitton, created the overlapped logo pattern between the “L” and “V” letters in 1896 as a heartfelt homage towards his father. The design drew inspiration from Japonism floral medallions and the Neo-Gothic ornamentation – a visual symbol to protect the brand’s authenticity.
Over the years and under the helm of various designers, creative directors reimagined the Monogram, from Marc Jacobs’s sensual expressions to Pharrell Williams’ playful interpretations. It has evolved into a symbol of heritage excellence, uniting generations of artisans, creative directors, and artists who shaped Louis Vuitton’s iconic spirit.
Honouring Louis Vuitton’s 130th hallmark

To honour thirteen decades of inheritance, Louis Vuitton opens the year by introducing three new capsule collections: Monogram Origin, VVN, and Time Trunk, each offering a unique perspective on the Monogram’s evolution. The Monogram Origin collection revisits the original 1896 motif through a newly developed canvas, inspired by archival jacquard weaves and softened pastel tones. Meanwhile, the VVN Collection pays homage to Louis Vuitton’s leather-goods heritage, crafted in natural cowhide that develops a rich patina over time.
Completing the trio, the Time Trunk Collection bridges past and present with trompe-l’œil prints that reflect the textures and metallic details of historic trunks, transforming heritage into a modern visual illusion. This further strengthens the Monogram as a representation of a generational heirloom – where craftsmanship, culture, and reinvention unite through a logo.
The collections celebrate five of the maison’s most iconic designs: the Noé, Keepall, Speedy, Alma, and Neverfull. Each bag represents a defining chapter in Louis Vuitton’s history, from travel and freedom to elegance and modern utility. This milestone celebration will unfold across five chapters throughout the year. The first chapter of the collection launched on 1 January 2026 and is now available for purchase in-store and online.
