The Instagram-famous makeup brand recently launched their latest release in collaboration with Paramount Pictures, the Storybook Cosmetics X Mean Girls Burn Book Palette.
Themed makeup collections have always been our Achilles’ heel – who can resist the madly adorable packaging like that of the shu uemura X Super Mario collection or the Moschino X Sephora Toy bear set?
Obviously, we couldn’t contain our excitement when we discovered a makeup brand that draws inspiration from our favourite stories both growing up and in today’s pop culture – Storybook Cosmetics.
The Instagram-famous makeup brand recently launched their latest release in collaboration with Paramount Pictures, the Storybook Cosmetics X Mean Girls Burn Book Palette.
Designed like a hardcover storybook, the palette features 12 “totally fetch” and cruelty-free colours in matte, shimmer and pearl finishes. Each highly-pigmented shade is named after familiar phrases from the movie, like “you can’t sit with us” and “so fetch”. We’re sure Regina George would approve.
But that’s not all – they’ve launched several other makeup collections that each went viral on the Internet, like the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Storybook Palette and the Wizardry and Witchcraft Eyeshadow Palette.
Inspired by Roald Dahl’s childhood classic, this limited-edition storybook palette features 12 Whipple-Scrumptious muted colours that are — quite aptly — chocolate-scented. There’s a metallic purple “Willy Wonka” colour reminiscent of his velvet jacket, a matte orange named after the dancing “Oompa-Loompa” and of course, the coveted “Golden Ticket” shade that’s true to its name.
Though this palette may not be tied to any particular enchanting fairytale, it’s the brand’s first original eyeshadow palette – and what probably got their name out there in the first place, besides their magical wand brushes.
Fans of films and dramas like Harry Potter, Charmed and Merlin will find the 12 colours consistent with notions in the world of witchcraft and wizardry, like the rusty brown “broomstick” and the emerald green “potion”.
With hints at a possible Game of Thrones collaboration in future, we can’t wait to see what else they have in store to add to our makeup wishlist.
