The dragon’s body, crafted from 27 brass pieces, coils around the barrel, descends to the lower dial beneath the flying tourbillon, and reappears at 10 o’clock. The dragon’s body features black lacquer on the sides and a pink gold treatment on top.
The intricate composition places the individual pieces at various angles and levels for added volume, and the dragon is also visible on the reverse side through the caseback’s sapphire crystal.
Hour markers, treated with pink gold galvanic treatment, adorn the brass flange. The V-shaped hour markers’ interiors match the notches on the bezel, treated with black Super-LumiNova. The pink gold hour and minute hands, openworked and satin-brushed, include black Super-LumiNova inserts.
The in-house manual-winding movement, calibre RD512SQ, powers the skeletonized watch, offering a light and airy composition with ample negative space to accentuate the flying tourbillon and meticulously finished components.
Maintaining the recent design changes to the Excalibur, the 42mm x 12.6mm pink gold case boasts sharper lines without compromising its robust personality. The screw-down crown, flanked by guards, ensures 100m water resistance, complemented by a notched bezel and three arched lugs with brushed surfaces and polished bevels.
With a quick-release system, the watch’s black calfskin leather strap can be swapped effortlessly. The strap is equipped with a pink gold triple-folding buckle.
The Excalibur Dragon Monotourbillon is a limited edition of 28 pieces, priced at approximately MYR 1,000,000. For more details and to find the nearest Roger Dubuis Boutique or authorized retailer, visit rogerdubuis.com.
