The moon phase setting has been redesigned to appear perfectly round as a polished white disk, backdropped against a new hand-guilloché blue enamel dial reminiscent of the inky night sky.
A classic round shape, pure lines and, as its name suggests, an extremely thin case, have long defined Jaeger-Lecoultre’s Master Ultra Thin. For SIHH 2019, the maison shines the spotlight on technical and artistic precision with a new Master Ultra Thin: The Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel.
Limited to only 100 pieces, the new Master Ultra Thin Moon is most identifiable by a new hand-guilloché blue enamel dial reminiscent of the inky night sky. A new polished moon stands in as the star, complete with new hour-markers and a new engraved counter. The captivating blue is added character with geometric motifs, which at the same time highlight the meticulous relief effect of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s guillochage technique. Jaeger-LeCoultre remains to this day one of the rare few watchmakers to perfect the technique in-house.
The extremely thin case of the Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel this time measures only 10.04mm this time yet manages to conceal the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 925 in its white gold shell. The engine itself is an automatic mechanical movement with a power reserve of 70-hours.
The moon phase setting of the new watch is also new. It has been redesigned to appear perfectly round as a polished white disk when the moon is full, standing out almost like an ethereal entity against its stellar background of blue. It is decorated with new design for the hour markers which are now longer and split into two at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock.
What’s most interesting is perhaps a small aperture located at 6 o’clock. It in houses the engraved counter that houses the polished moon phase, a deliberate neat trick to bring out the numerals depicting the date for extra presence and discretion.
The new Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel pays homage to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Art of Technical and Artistic Precision, a testament to precision and sophistication.
