When an Italian high-end watch manufacturer rooted in Swiss watchmaking expertise and a German engineering brand with a mastery of tuning high performance vehicles put their collective minds together, you can expect nothing less than an exceptionally crafted piece of high tech luxury.
Kicking off a collaboration with luxury automotive tuning brand BRABUS, Panerai debuts its Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition (PAM01240), its first-ever watch with a skeletonised automatic caliber. A product of more than three years of development, the piece’s design takes inspiration from BRABUS’ Shadow Black Ops series of boats.
A partnership forged by the sea
With Panerai’s origin and history embedded in the development of diving watches, and BRABUS’ vast experience in engineering boats, the two brands are connected by a mutual passion and respect for the marine environment.
The watch, which adapts BRABUS’ signature gunmetal grey, black and red color palette, is the first of many products to come from this partnership, maximising the wide potential to cater to the marine segment with new ideas and technologies. Through a series of exclusive watch products, the collaboration will unite the brand design DNAs and identities, enhancing the two worlds of watchmaking and boating.
“When we speak about partnership, it’s not just about a logo, it extends to the highest levels and smallest details,” said Panerai CEO, Jean-Marc Pontroué. “The ideas, materials and technologies of our brands will be a vehicle for developing concepts that are both disruptive and spectacular.”
Diving into the details
The Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition boasts a patented polarized date display, which allows the date indication to be seen only through an opening at 3 o’clock without covering up the skeletonised movement.
Powered by the P.4001/s caliber, this diver-friendly 47mm watch has a unidirectional rotating bezel to calculate immersion time, a GMT function, an AM.PM indicator and a three-day power reserve with a Super-LumiNova™ filled sapphire crystal disk indicator.
In addition to a water-resistance of 300 meters, the watch features a bi-material strap and a second Panerai Sportech strap with a velcro closure. Placing a priority on function as well as form, the piece includes a tool that allows interchangeability of the straps and a screwdriver to remove the buckle.
The Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Black Ops Edition will have a limited run of only 100 pieces. To find out more, visit panerai.com
