Arriving three years after the launch of the Trident’s first SUV, the Maserati Levante, the limited edition Vulcano is as athletic as it is exclusive.
There’s a new luxury sport utility SUV in the Malaysian market, but only 10 of us will be lucky enough to own one out of 150 sold in Europe and Asia.
Enter the Maserati Levante Vulcano, unveiled recently in conjunction with the 10th anniversary celebration of Naza Italia, the sole importer and distributor of the marque in the country. Arriving three years after the launch of the Trident’s first SUV, the Maserati Levante, the limited edition Vulcano is as athletic as it is exclusive.
Powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engines found in the Levante S variant, it boasts 430hp and 580 Nm of torque channelled via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. This takes the Vulcano from 0-100 in 5.2 seconds at a maximum speed of 265km/h.
Colour options are confined to a limited edition “Grigio Lava” matte grey paint work; but if that’s the only choice available, at least it leaves a tasteful, sexy imprint. The model’s sporty features are highlighted by the Nerissimo pack – encompassing the dark tail light clusters, black chrome front grille and logos, glossy black window surrounds, body-coloured door handles and burnished exhaust tailpipes.
Completing the exterior details are 21-inch Helios staggered wheels finished in matte as well as drilled red brake callipers. Speaking of brakes, the 6-piston Brembo Dual Cast braking system promises excellent braking performance on top of sporty elegance.
As for the interiors, the heated and ventilated full red Pieno Fiore leather upholstery and Trident logo embroidery mark the model’s ‘volcanic’ persona. A limited edition “one of 150” beside the Trident nameplate on the centre console further underlines its exclusivity, contrasted against high gloss carbon-fibre trimmings on the shift paddles and steering wheel.
Maserati’s comprehensive suite of Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) is included for a smooth experience in the cockpit, with more active functions such as Integrated Vehicle Control, Forward Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Surround View Camera, Highway Assist System, Lane Keeping Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist.
It comes with a 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, soft close door closure system, front and rear parking sensors and full-LED Matrix adaptive headlights as standard.
The limited edition Levante Vulcano enters the Malaysian market at the starting price of RM838,800.00 (inclusive of local taxes and duties). The price includes 3 years Standard Warranty coverage with no mileage restriction plus a Free maintenance program of 3 years/ 100,000 km whichever comes first (Inclusive of *Maserati Premium Service Plus of 3 Years /60,000 km).
