Extraordinary eau-de-vie has always made up the philosophy behind Martell’s best collections. Now, for the first time in 300 years of history, Maison Martell Cellar Master Christophe Valtaud has selected five of the rarest and most precious eaux-de-vie that have surpassed the milestone of 100 years for a new collection called the Centenary.
Each year from 2021, one exceptional, and exceptionally limited, eau-de-vie will be released.
The Martell Centenary 1921 is one of the finest eaux-de-vie in the Martell cellars, a pure product of the prestigious Grande Champagne terroir and its famous chalk and limestone soils.
Dating to 1921, this outstanding eau-de-vie was moved to the Jean Martell cellar in 1956, reserved for the oldest and most exquisite among the House’s collection. It was judged to have attained perfection in 1987, at which point it was transferred from oak barrels to glass Dame-Jeanne until bottling in 2021.
Bottled by Baccarat
Befitting this remarkable release, each Martell Centenary 1921 will be presented in a Baccarat crystal carafe enhanced by an inlaid wood setting. Hand-blown by Baccarat’s master craftsmen, the decanter features unique engravings on the side and foot, and a crystal stopper with the Martell shield hand-painted in gold.
The original motif of intertwined vine leaves and shoots adorning each decanter is inspired by Maison Martell’s legendary terroir. The same motif is reproduced on the hand-crafted marquetry wooden box in which the cognac is encased. A golden medallion indicates the number in the collection, limited to 70 only.
100 years of timelessness
Martell Centenary 1921 is distinguished by its great aromatic intensity and richness, as well as a true freshness. It expresses the full character of the Grande Champagne terroir, renowned for producing powerful, structured eaux-de-vie with a great length on the palate.
