The rise to worldwide stardom of BTS, known also as Bangtan Sonyeondan, is certainly one for the history books. Formed in 2013, the group has come a long way with its name holding a coveted place in the musical scene. The seven young rookies who had come from varying walks of life, have together created massive ripples through their manifest talent, brilliant artistry and ever-brimming passion for their craft.
To shower their fandom with love and gratitude, the group decided to reward and surprise the BTS Army with an eight-part documentary event. Entitled ‘BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star’, this docuseries is all set to stun and move – carrying the audience beneath the band’s surface and through their raw, undisguised journey.
On the note of all things magnificent that the band has achieved through the years, BTS has also successfully prioritised the building of their brand. Luxury collaborations are no stranger to the band, asserting the influence they hold within the global entertainment domain. From RM’s Bottega Veneta to Jin’s Cartier, take a look at the luxury powerhouses that the seven have charmed:
RM: Bottega Veneta
The star, known for his ‘quiet luxury’ approach became fashion brand Bottega Veneta’s first and only celebrity brand ambassador. Prior to being signed on as the face of the brand’s spring 2023 campaign, RM has donned the brand’s apparel on a few occasions, even from back in 2020 where he accoutred the brand at the Grammys ceremony.
Creative Director Matthieu Blazy congratulated the artist on Instagram, “Andiamo! Welcome to the family”, announcing his entrance into the sublime luxury of Bottega Veneta.
J-Hope: Louis Vuitton
Penned as the group’s most fashion-forward member, J-Hope was named as the French fashion house’s newest House ambassador. The announcement came in several weeks after the artist was seen flaunting a chic camouflage set at the Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2023 Menswear Show in Paris – his funky and bold look was undoubtedly a showstopper.
The House was all praise for the global icon, emphasising his “creative musical direction, choreography as well as upbeat energy” upon the announcement where J-Hope is seen flawlessly attired in stylish Louis Vuitton wear.
Jimin: Dior and Tiffany & Co.
A testament to his immaculate style, the South Korean sensation was signed by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton as brand ambassadors for two of its luxury establishments: Dior and Tiffany & Co.
Earlier this January, the French maison shared images of Jimin on Instagram, decked in sportswear-inspired Dior garments. As ambassador, he then graced the 2023 Paris Men’s Fashion Week, his participation a gift for fashion lovers.
Soon after in April, the star was welcomed to the Tiffany & Co. family; in his recent appearances, he can be seen brandishing their delicate charms and gems. Portrayed for the first time in the expressive ‘This is Tiffany’ campaign, the jewellery house’s top executive lauded Jimin’s “energy, style, and sense of modernity” which aligns with the brand’s ethos.
Suga: Valentino & NBA
The South Korean rapper, songwriter and record producer, Suga aka Agust D, became Valentino’s brand new ambassador in January this year. The Rome-based luxury house appointed Suga as one of its ambassadors called ‘Di.VAs.’ (short for Different Values). Impressed by his prowess as a multifaceted artist, Valentino designated the artist as the headlining act for its Maison Valentino Essential campaign.
The campaign, dedicated to the brand’s menswear staple articles, exhibits a carefully-curated selection including detailed scarves, blouses, suits, tailored blazers, Bermuda shorts and trousers. Beyond the fashion sphere, the artist is an ambassador for the National Basketball Association (NBA) – the avid NBA enthusiast was at a Lakers vs. Mavericks game, robed in a sleek suit look from the Essentials collection. The deliberate act of uniting both fashion and sports is admirable, done seamlessly by the artist.
V: CELINE & Cartier
The luxury house helmed by Hedi Slimane unveiled V as its brand ambassador earlier this March. The announcement followed months of buzz, culminating in an Elle Korea cover where the star was endowed with the title of ‘CELINE boy’. The musician kicked off his partnership with the fashion label through featuring on three different covers of the magazine.
V’s charisma and charm are unmistakably apparent, bagging him a lucrative deal with jewellery maestro Cartier. The confirmation arrived in July with his first appearance in a campaign for the brand’s signature Panthere collection.
Jungkook: Calvin Klein
Amidst the inflow of spring brand ambassador revelations earlier in the year, Calvin Klein released an obscure teaser of their upcoming muse. The fans were quick to react, deciphering the teaser: Jungkook is the muse. The singer was announced as the brand’s global ambassador, donning the Spring 2023 collection. The campaign films him in an array of styles, including the 90s straight denim and body jeans, oversized denim jacket and relaxed fit crewneck T-shirt.
Excited over the announcement, Jonathan Bottomley, Global Chief Marketing Officer of Calvin Klein highlighted Jungkook’s spectacular “ability to connect with international audiences through his music and style”.
Jin: Cartier (potentially)
The oldest member of the member has been serving in the military since December 2022, keeping his name out of any official ambassador announcements throughout the year. However, it cannot be concluded that a partnership is not in the works – according to tons of hearsay, the global pop star will be collaborating with Cartier, potentially joining his fellow band member, V.
Jin has been spotted flourishing the brand’s fine timepieces on numerous occasions, with a quite significant one being the premiere of the movie HUNT in 2022 where he wore the Tank Louis Cartier Watch in 18k yellow gold and red leather. P.S. look closely at the picture below and you can see the exquisite watch.
While this is yet to be confirmed, the excitement is undeniable nevertheless.
