The print forms the canvas for a selection of the Maison’s most celebrated bags, such as the Dauphine, Neverfull and Petit Noe.
Since 1896, the house of Louis Vuitton has beguiled luxury consumers with its Monogram motif that distinctly marks a product as a status symbol. Designed by Georges Vuitton as a homage to his father, the founder of the Maison, the neo-gothic coat of arms drew references from their original home in Asnières and served to distinguish the brand’s unique travel heritage.
For the Fall 2020 season, womenswear artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière has revisited the motif to introduce a new house print that incorporates this iconic Monogram while highlighting another historic period – 1854, the year the Maison was founded.
Introducing Since 1854, a new jacquard print that interlaces the Monogram with the key date inscribed within the signature quatrefroils. The number ‘8’ in the year forms the petals of the Japanese-style flower, signaling part of the canvas’ heritage whilst paying respect to a family driven by painstaking craftmanship.
The print forms the canvas for a selection of the Maison’s most popular bags, such as the Dauphine, Neverfull and Petit Noe. Besides that, this new neo-vintage canvas appears across a transversal collection of ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes, textiles and accessories, aptly named after the motif.
At launch, the Since 1854 canvas will arrive in two colours: grey and burgundy. It will later be available in additional colours, including denim, beginning January 2021.
