They’re taking things up a notch with a ready-to-wear line and accessories that will team Lagerfeld’s Parisian chic and Gerber’s West Coast style.
We’ve all established Kaia Gerber is no ordinary 16-year-old. No daughter of Cindy Crawford is ordinary but her latest venture may even top her opening the show for Saint Laurent and fronting beauty campaigns for Marc Jacobs combined.
Latest news has it that she’ll be lending her fashion prowess to design a fashion line with Karl Lagerfeld which will hit stores as early as Fall this year.
The model has already worked with the veteran designer many times, although thus far only as his model in Chanel shows. This time, they’re taking things up a notch with a ready-to-wear line and accessories that will team Lagerfeld’s Parisian chic and Gerber’s West Coast style.
Rumour has it there will eveningwear dripping with Lagerfeld’s European influences and daywear inspired by the Californian sunsets of Gerber’s home. There will also be jewellery, sunglasses and shoes, each launched in stages in events throughout Los Angeles, New York and Paris.
It was apparently Lagerfeld who approached the young model for the collaboration, as told by Pier Paolo Righi, chief executive officer of Karl Lagerfeld: “When Karl first told us his idea to collaborate with Kaia, we were all excited by the incredible potential and power of bringing their two worlds together.”
“We have been working intensely over the last months with Kaia in LA and at our studio in Paris. It was exciting to see her clear vision, passion and engagement, and the collection will definitely inspire many young women.”
