It’s no secret that both Gentle Monster and Blackpink’s Jennie are big names in the fashion industry. Their collaboration has transcended beyond the eyewear space, creating wearable art that’s created buzz both online and offline. After the success of Jentle Home and Jentle Garden, the South Korean eyewear brand and K-pop ‘it’ girl have teamed up once again to reveal their latest project titled ‘Jentle Salon’.
The collection centres around eight frame silhouettes that come with black, metallic and a range of pastel hues with an addition of 11 eye-catching detachable charms that make the eyewear resemble hair barrettes. The charms bring Jennie’s favourite things and elements to sophisticated elevation such as adorable Capybaras, white clouds, fuzzy bows, crystal hearts and pearl drop charms.
Lensed by renowned artist and photographer Petra Collins, the campaign of the new collection instills a sense of magic through an analog lens, inviting viewers into the Jentle Salon dreamscape. The campaign also comes with a film directed by Tokyo-based Chinese film director Yuann with Jennie taking to the skies with a mythical unicorn at the end. The unicorn is the brand’s way of reinterpreting nostalgic stuffed animals and a symbol to manifest Jennie’s dreams.
Furthermore, the line will be launched via a set of pop-up events across 13 cities worldwide, including Seoul, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and even Kuala Lumpur. In Kuala Lumpur, the pop-up will be held at The Exchange TRX, from July 5 to July 28.
