In the last couple of years, we’ve seen a slew of celebrities and luxury fashion houses branch out into the beauty industry with their own lines (see: Rare Beauty, Hermès, Dries Van Noten). Given this trend, it’s no surprise that co-creative directors Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada have decided to announce the expansion of their eponymous beauty line, Prada Beauty, beyond just fragrances and into the worlds of makeup and skincare.
Prada and Simons “jointly” said: “Abandoning all the clichés of the past, we believe that beauty today is the representation of one’s personality, freedom and self-confidence.”
Taking to Instagram for the announcement, the brand posted a suite of images and videos to announce ‘Rethinking Beauty’, the brand’s first holistic beauty collection.
While many of the specifics of the range have yet to be unveiled, WWD reports that the unisex collection will include 26 ‘Monochrome’ lipsticks in hyper matte and soft matte textures, six Prada print-inspired ‘Dimensions’ eyeshadow quads, 33 AI-driven shades of ‘Reveal’ foundation, three ‘Augmented Skin’ complexion products, 10 brushes and tools, and a lip balm for good measure. The product range will be priced from 45 euros to 360 euros.
Prada and Simons have also announced makeup artists Lynsey Alexander and Inès Alpha as the brand’s global creative makeup artist and “e-makeup” artist, respectively. The report mentioned that both have worked closely with the duo to develop the line over the past three years.
According to the brand’s Instagram, the ‘Rethinking Beauty’ collection will be available for purchase very soon, with the launch scheduled for 1 August 2023 via their website.
