While its rather campy name and price point does not scream the words haute horlogerie, Gorilla, is the brainchild of Octavio Garcia, whose former credentials include brands the likes of Audemars Piguet, Omega and Swatch. The Chicago-born watchmaker founded the company in 2016 and has since produced watches inspired by early passions and visual motifs.
“As a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s in America, American popular culture greatly influenced my passions for drawing. I would copy my favorite Marvel and DC comic book superheroes. I would also help my father repair American muscle cars for the neighborhood,” Garcia writes.
Inspired by the iconic “Lead Sled” Ford Mercury of the late 1940s and early 1950s, the Fastback Drift Mercury fuses audacious design with modern finesse. With a mesmerizing wandering hours’ complication by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, this limited edition timepiece boasts a serene blue finish on the base plate, contrasted with natural anodized elements and a robust Fastback case.
Harmonized by a blue FKM hybrid strap with black Cordura inserts, the Fastback Drift Mercury, available in just 50 exclusive pieces worldwide, is where time seamlessly drifts between the bold elegance of yesteryears and today’s cutting-edge craftsmanship.
