It’s the Italian brand’s first foray into the urban bike territory.

After hinting at an electric bike for some time, Ducati has finally given bike enthusiasts something to feast their eyes on: the e-Scrambler. The name is borrowed from the marque’s motorcycle line-up, but it’s not the rival to Harley Davidson’s LiveWire if that’s what you were expecting. No, this is a bicycle with an electric motor that’s designed for urban trekking.

This isn’t the first e-bike from Ducati, having produced several high-performance mountain bikes in collaboration with electric bicycle company Thok. It is, however, the Italian brand’s first foray into the urban bike territory.

Launching as a high-quality, upper-range model in this segment, the e-Scrambler is equipped with a Shimano Steps E7000 mid-drive motor which produces 250W and 60Nm of torque. It is further powered by a 504 Wh Shimano battery with an unspecified range, though Ducati claims it can cover “long distances”.

The bike comes with a signature Ducati Yellow aluminum frame with a telescopic seat post, Sram NX 11-speed transmission and Sram Guide T brakes and Pirelli Cycl-e GT Tyres powered by Thok – altogether offering smooth, easy handling in the city or country roads.

Other features include a low centre of gravity, front and read headlights, a rear rack rated for a 25 kg load, fenders and a bike stand to provide for effortless everyday cycling.

The Ducati e-Scrambler is available at an asking price of US$4,200 via the official website as well as through authorised dealers.
