Featured across the collection are familiar Naruto characters and the series’ signature “eye” motifs, which have been reimagined with Coach’s Retro C codes.
Following Michael B. Jordan’s debut as the first global face of Coach Menswear earlier this year, the Black Panther star is making his first foray into fashion design with an exclusive collaboration with the New York fashion house. Naruto fans, you’ll want to listen up.
Cue the Coach X Michael B. Jordan capsule collection, consisting of unisex ready-to-wear, footwear and bags inspired by the famed Japanese anime and manga.
Designed in partnership with VIZ Media under the guidance of Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers, the collection marries the house’s painstaking craftmanship with Jordan’s love for functional fashion and his favourite childhood series of Naruto.
Just like the manga’s protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki – a young ninja who starts off as an outsider but gains recognition from his community as he strives to protect it from danger – Jordan relates with his own backstory as an outlier who worked hard to establish himself in the Hollywood industry. Both narratives also echo Coach’s ethos of courage and community.
“With my name on this collection, it was important to design pieces that represent my cultural influences and my community; pieces that I could see my friends, family and fans wearing with pride,” said the 32-year-old actor.
These streetwear pieces range from parkas and pullovers to backpacks and bumbags as well as hybrid sneaker boots and beanies. Each design is infused with utilitarian details such as removable sleeves, tactical straps and elastic closures. Also featured across the collection are familiar Naruto characters and the series’ signature “eye” motifs, which have been reimagined with Coach’s Retro C codes.

“As with all aspects of my work, this collection is about bringing fresh perspectives and unique voices to the forefront,” added Jordan on his capsule. “Expanding into the fashion design space was rewarding beyond my expectations. I’m grateful to Stuart and Coach for providing me with the opportunity and expertise to execute a collection I’m extremely proud of.”
To celebrate the launch of the collection, Coach has released a campaign combining Jordan’s acting skills and Naruto’s legendary iconography. Conceived by the actor himself and directed by Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison, the short film depicts him in a mysterious alleyway in Tokyo where reality and fantasy collide through the power of connection.
