“Two weeks ago I asked my soulmate to marry me and she said yes.”
Following speculation that Brooklyn Beckham had popped the question to girlfriend and actress Nicola Peltz, the truth is finally out. The couple took to their Instagram pages on July 11 to officially announce their engagement with matching posts of them leaning in for a kiss.
The 21-year-old firstborn son of football legend David Beckham and Victoria ‘Posh Spice’ said in his caption: “Two weeks ago I asked my soulmate to marry me and she said yes.”
“I am the luckiest man in the world. I promise to be the best husband and the best daddy one day,” he added.
Nicola, 25, echoed his sentiments with an affectionate caption of her own: “You’ve made me the luckiest girl in the world. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life by your side. your love is the most precious gift.”
In the photo taken by Brooklyn’s younger sister, Harper Seven, Brooklyn wears a navy suit whilst his fiancé dons a long yellow dress and a dazzling new piece of jewellery – an emerald-cut diamond solitaire engagement ring. The Transformers: Age of Extinction actress also has on a matching diamond bracelet.
The couple, who reportedly started dating since October 2019, only went public in January this year. They have since been spending much of their lockdown time together, as evidenced by their posts on Instagram.
While the news may have come a bit sudden to some, mama Beckham seemed to be happy for her son. She also shared the newly engaged couple’s engagement portrait on the social media platform and expressed her congratulations.
“The MOST exciting news!!” the post reads, “We could not be happier that @brooklynbeckham and @nicolaannepeltz are getting married! Wishing you so much love and a lifetime of happiness.”
