Balenciaga has a new ambassador: the Oscar-winning actress and longtime friend of the House, Michelle Yeoh. The legendary Hollywood actress, producer and internationally renowned martial artist will be even more closely linked to the Parisian fashion house. The moment was commemorated with a portrait by documentary photographer Platon, known for capturing the world’s most eminent, fashionable and revolutionary personalities, as well as all of Balenciaga’s ambassadors, including French actress Isabelle Huppert and Thai star PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn.
Michelle Yeoh, whose career spans four decades, is credited with perfecting many genres of roles, from action heroine to dramatic lead. The actress’ journey from Malaysian roots and London education to international stardom in the film industry mirrors the brand’s global reach and influence. Her notable achievements in cinema include critical acclaim for her performance in the A24 film Everything Everywhere All at Once, for which she won a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and an Oscar.
Yeoh‘s association with Balenciaga is not new. She has worked closely with the brand for several major red-carpet events, showcasing Balenciaga’s exquisite creations. Yeoh turned heads at this year’s Cannes Film Festival by wearing Balenciaga Couture for her appearances. In addition, her choice of Balenciaga for the Kering Women in Motion Dinner, where she was honoured with the Women in Motion Award, further cements her as an icon of style and substance.
“I am thrilled to join Balenciaga as its ambassador,” said Yeoh. “For me, fashion is an art form. It’s not just about clothes, but about self-expression, how you feel in the dress and the values you embody by wearing it; it’s a way to communicate what I want to express with my work and my place in the world. At Balenciaga, I appreciate the art and craftsmanship behind each piece. The brand embodies a sense of originality and relevance, always remaining true to its heritage as a haute couture atelier. It is an honour to collaborate with Balenciaga.”
