With a tradition that’s unparalleled, Longines is a brand that has established itself and is a name that is known in over one hundred and fifty countries. Celebrating Longines’ 190th Anniversary celebration, an exclusive dinner event was held in dedication to the exemplary milestone. A night where celebrities, guests and members of the Longines family gathered to recount Longines’s rich history and admire the commemorative timepieces on display.
This exclusive event was held at The Exchange 57, TRX. The setting was transformed into an elegant space amidst a lavish atmosphere with picturesque views of Kuala Lumpur City – an extraordinary experience for guests of the night. Guests were enchanted with a stroll into Longines’ one hundred and ninety years of history as well as its iconic timepieces.
The host for the evening was Mr. Matthias Breschan, Longines CEO, who flew in to Kuala Lumpur for the anniversary celebration.
“For the last 190 years, Longines’ craftsmanship forged in tradition, elegance and performance has raised the brand to the ranks of the great watchmakers and we are proud to have established a strong presence in Malaysia. It is a pleasure for me to celebrate this special anniversary with all of you here tonight, and to highlight Longines’ rich history in the most elegant way,” said Mr. Breschan.
The event saw the attendance of many distinguished guests including Alvin Chong, Aiman Hakim, Zahirah Macwilson, Tong Bing Yu as well as pop duo Fu Ying and Sam. At the event, guests were given the opportunity to admire some of the greatest pieces from the Longines historic collection. Flown in for this special occasion, these exceptional pieces dates back to 19th century.
This momentous night was marked as the beginning of Longines’ celebrations in Kuala Lumpur. This year, Longines is also hosting an impressive exhibition at Starhill Gallery Kuala Lumpur which explores the history of Longines. The 190th Anniversary exhibition will be on display until 27th November, a journey for visitors into the chronicles of the brand’s rich history and its evolution since 1832. At the exhibition, visitors will have a chance to explore the milestones of Longines as well as its continued development across the centuries.
Marking its 190th anniversary, we welcome a collection that stands out with meticulous workmanship as well as exemplary detailing – a series of exclusive timepieces from the Longines Master Collection. From the collection, the L2.793.4.73.2 timepiece has a sandblasted silver dial that is distinguished by its delicately engraved Arabic numerals and unique finishes. It runs on Longines’ exclusive L888 Calibre with a self-winding mechanical movement and beats at twenty-five thousand and two hundred vibrations per hour. The fine craftsmanship of this calibre can be seen through the piece’s transparent back which features a commemorative engraving.
This timepiece has a power reserve of seventy-two hours encased within a forty-millimetre stainless steel round case. Its elegant blue steel hands mark the passing hours, minutes and seconds whilst accentuating the dial’s refined purity. In addition, this exclusive timepiece has a three-bar water resistance and also includes a soft, anthracite grey leather strap.
