Boasting improved engines and transmissions, deluxe performance, as well as a new dynamic design, Porsche has taken the second generation Panamera to new heights.
Since its debut in 2009, the Porsche Panamera has redefined the limits of the brand’s sporty heritage, marrying the performance of a bona fide sports car with the comfort of a luxury super saloon. If you were a fan of the first generation, get ready to be blown away with the all-new 2017 Porshe Panamera.
Boasting improved engines and transmissions, deluxe performance, as well as a new dynamic design, Porsche has taken the second generation Panamera to new heights. That’s not all – here are five new improvements to the Panamera for all you car enthusiasts.
Powerful V6 and V8 biturbo engines
For the first time ever, the new Panamera will be equipped with a permanent all-wheel driving system and Porsche’s new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK). The Panamera 4s is equipped with a 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine rated at 440 horsepower. Thanks to the “hot sides inward” conceptual design, the Panamera 4s reaches 100km/h in 4.4 seconds (4.2 with the Sport Chrono package), while saving up to 10 percent of fuel consumption compared to its predecessor.
Remarkable exterior
With an added 34mm to its length, 6mm to its width and 5mm to its height, the new Panamera has more dynamic proportions than the first generation. The lower roofline and a shift forward in the front wheels reduce the overhang and make for a more powerful outlook. Its new side body is made entirely of aluminium, accentuating the silhouette of a sports car in stylistic affinity to the Porsche 911.
Innovative assistance systems
One notable enhancement to the assistance systems of the Panamera is the night vision assistant, which uses a thermal imaging camera to detect pedestrians (including animals), making driving safer and more convenient for the driver. Other safety technologies offered include a blind-spot monitor with lane change assist and adaptive cruise control.
Interactive interior
While the exterior had a number of improvements, the Panamera’s interior had a facelift altogether. Starting with the new Porsche Advanced Cockpit, two touch-sensitive configurable digital displays sandwich the central analogue tachometer, leaving room for personalisation. Modern, interactive panels replace classic hard keys to produce a user interface like that of smartphones, but with the practical requirements for controlling the car. Even rear passengers can manipulate audio, navigation, and climate from an optional 10-inch display.
Comfortably spacious cabin
Aside from technological enhancements, the interior provides a comfortable amount of headroom and legroom, along with ample cargo space. The Panamera continues to raise the bar for comfort with a panoramic tilt roof, massage seats, and 3D high-end sound system from Burmester. In our opinion, the overall interior finish – from the design to the interactivity – is simply flawless.
Retail base price for the new Panamera and Panamera 4S starts from RM890,000.00 and RM1,100,00.00 respectively. All cars sold via SDAP come with a four-year warranty and free maintenance package which includes complimentary service, parts and labour. The stated price includes all applicable duties, except registration fee, road tax and insurance.
