The electric-vehicle race is certainly gaining pace everywhere, perhaps almost literally in the case of Jaguar! Yes, its new I-Pace is the first all-electric car for the brand and, interestingly, the Brit luxe motoring icons have chosen the Crossover/ SUV market as its entry point.
Now, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia officially offers two variants here, the Black LE priced from RM460,800 and the HSE that starts from RM498,800. Both variants feature a dual-motor powertrain packing 400 PS and 696 Nm of torque that is transmitted to all four wheels, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds.
They also get 20-inch ‘Style 5068’ alloy wheels, which are gloss black on the Black LE and gloss dark grey with a contrasting diamond-turned finish on the HSE. Meanwhile, the suspension setup is made up of coil springs on passive dampers for the Black LE, while the HSE is equipped with an electronically-controlled air suspension system.
Motive energy for either model is stored in a 90 kWh battery pack offering a maximum range of 470 km on the WLTP test cycle, with 11 kW AC charging via the onboard three-phase charger with Type 2 charging cable providing a 53 km-per-hour (WLTP) rate of recharge offering an empty-to-full charge time of 8.6 hours. Up to 100 kW DC charging is possible via a CCS2 combo plug, which offers a 125 km top-up in range in just 15 minutes.
Standard kit across both variants also includes LED self-levelling headlamps and DRLs with follow-me-home function, LED tail lamps and rear fog lamps, heated and power-folding door mirrors with self-dimming on the driver’s side, flush-retracting door handles, an acoustic windscreen and rain-sensing wipers. The exterior kit for both variants features glossy black lower front blades and door cladding.
Meanwhile, the Black LE interior is upholstered in duo leather trim, with front seats offering 12-way electrically adjustable with memory and two-way manual headrests, while the HSE gets Windsor Leather and Performance Specification front seats. The HSE also gets a 14-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat with cooling, as well as a position memory function.
The infotainment kit for either model comprises the Pivi Pro infotainment system featuring 10-inch and 5.5-inch touchscreens with Connected Navigation Pro and Smart Settings, interactive driver display, Bluetooth connectivity and voice control, while the power supply comes courtesy of two 12-volt outlets and five USB outlets, and a wireless device charging pad. For audio, the HSE gets the premium Meridian 3D surround sound system as standard.
And given its five-star EuroNCAP safety rating, the I-Pace expectedly offers a long list of standard safety features including six airbags, Emergency Braking, Driver Condition Monitor, and Lane Keep Assist. The EV also comes with Adaptive Speed Limiter that works hand-in-hand with Traffic Sign Recognition capability, enabling it to autonomously adjust its speed via the car’s Cruise Control feature.
And for complete peace of mind, the Jaguar I-Pace is sold with a five-year, 150,000 km warranty complete with three years of roadside assistance, five years or 102,000 km of complimentary servicing, as well as a main traction battery warranty of eight years or 160,000 km.
