Discovered in Botswana, Africa, the stone is 6 centimetres in width and described by de Grisogono founder Fawaz Gruosi as the “most pure and most clean stone in the world”.
Last year, luxury jewellery brand de Grisogono made a surprise return to the Biennale des Antiquaries, the French art festival that has celebrated the cornerstones of French art de vivre for more than half a century, since opting out in 2008.
The reason for the resurfacing? To unveil a diamond of a whopping 813 karat in size called The Constellation.
Six centimetres in width and described by de Grisogono founder Fawaz Gruosi as the “most pure and most clean stone in the world”, the stone was discovered in the Lucara Diamond Corp Karowe mine of Botswana, Africa, following an estimated 3 billion years of formation.
From the 813 carats, de Grisogono has plans to carve 3 different stones among other smaller pieces that will go on to adorn some of the most famous names in the world.
To quell concerns of unethical sourcing, it has released a 3-minute film showcasing exactly how the behemoth diamond was found and the steps and care taken to craft it into a de Grisogono masterpiece. From mines to red carpet, de Grisogono makes it clear that the journey of The Constellation is documented.
