Everything from its walls, roofs and windows to its fireplace, bookcase and duckpond is made from the decadent treat!
Anyone who has ever grown up reading or watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would have dreamed of living in a house made out of chocolate at one point. Whether or not you relate to the idea, staying in a chocolate cottage is definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
Thanks to Booking.com, you can now do exactly that. Last September, the vacation rentals company opened a custom-built cottage made from 1.5 tonnes of chocolate.
Everything from its walls, roofs and windows to its fireplace, bookcase and duckpond is made from the decadent treat! And yes, they’re all edible, but guests are advised not to leave a half-eaten cottage for the next guest – bite-sized chocolates will be provided.
Designed by renowned chocolate architect, Jean-Luc Decluzeau, the 18-square-metre cottage is located inside the Musee de Sevres in France. It can accommodate up to four guests with one double bed and two singles. There is no bathroom, however, so you’ll have to head to the one nearby.

Guests checking in will have the opportunity to participate in a workshop on the creation of personalized mini chocolate homes conducted by Jean-Luc himself. Breakfast and dinner will also be served in the cottage’s quaint little (chocolate) flower garden.
“Booking.com is committed to providing unique and unforgettable experiences for travellers all over the world,” Vanessa Heydorff, Regional Director of Booking.com, France, said in a statement. “This Chocolate Cottage – the only bookable one ever created – celebrates the incredible diversity of Booking.com’s offering and is a tasty example of the many unforgettable travel experiences our customers can enjoy.”
