He is the fourth designer to helm the house in four years since famed designer Alber Elbaz left in late 2015 after 14 years of reign.
Lanvin has finally named its new creative director, Bruno Sialelli, after opting out of the upcoming Paris Fashion Week.
Sialelli joins the French fashion house from Loewe, where he worked as menswear design director under Jonathan Anderson. Though his work may have been under the radar until now, the Studio Berçot alumnus has previously had stints at Paco Rabanne, Acne Studios and Balenciaga.
“I am delighted and honoured to join Lanvin, a house founded by a visionary woman who, among the first French couturiers, dared to offer a global universe with a very wide field of expression,” Sialelli said of his new role.
He is the fourth designer to helm the house in four years since famed designer Alber Elbaz left in 2015 after 14 years of reign. He replaces Olivier Lapidus, who like Bouchra Jarrar before him, lasted but a few seasons due to declining sales and management issues. This also marks the first major appointment at Lanvin after its acquisition by Chinese company Fosun Fashion Group last February.
The appointment will see him unifying both menswear and womenswear into a singular vision, much like Alessandro Michele’s direction for Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo’s first co-ed collection which recently won Best Men’s Fashion Collection Award for Autumn/Winter ‘18.
“His singular and very personal vision, his audacity, his culture, his energy and ability to build a strong creative team convinced us,” said Jean-Philippe Hecquet, Lanvin’s new chief executive officer in a statement.
“We are excited to see the dynamism that will be brought to this great house through the complementary combination of Bruno’s creative talent with Jean-Philippe’s energetic and singular corporate direction,” added Joann Cheng, chairman of Fosun Fashion Group.
