As the son of Hong Kong film producing power couple Charles Heung and Tiffany Chen, martial arts actor Jacky Heung has got show business running through his veins. ‘I love to work out, I love martial arts, I love acting, I love to perform, I love the stage,’ reads his decidedly straightforward Facebook page bio.
While his parents’ company was pumping out smash hits in the 80s and 90s like Chow Yun Fat’s God Of Gamblers and Stephen Chow’s Fight Back To School, Jacky was growing up on a steady diet of Jet Li and Bruce Lee movies. Upon finishing his studies in the US, young Jacky set his sights on becoming an actor.
Given his family’s extensive connections in the industry, you would think breaking into the acting scene would be a breeze. Alas, opportunities were few and far between, so he took up modelling in the meantime. With his aspirations still fixed on acting and martial arts, he committed himself to a rigorous daily training regime, and eventually making his way into roles in films like The Warlords, Push and Fearless.
Although Jacky has evidently put in the time and hard work to carve out his own career path, his rich heir status is nevertheless apparent. When he and his wife, actress Bea Hayden, welcomed their first daughter in 2020, excited grandma Tiffany Chen reportedly dropped HK$160 million to buy them a sprawling mansion as a gift.
