In celebration of the return of the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix 2021 after a one-year hiatus, TAG Heuer circles back to the Monaco with a new special edition features the rare incorporation of a case in titanium Grade 2.
Measuring at 39mm in diameter, titanium presents the perfect base for the TAG Heuer Monaco Titan to present its silver sunburst dial. And while the use of the durable, lightweight material is a rarity for Monaco watches, it isn’t the first. The Monaco V4 concept watch that was designed in 2004 sported an open-worked dial and a titanium case.
As for the Monaco Titan, its case features a uniform sand-blasted matte texture, which extends to the pushers along the 3 o’clock side of the case, as well as the crown at 9 o’clock. The understated silvery-grey tone of titanium combines with the robust yet easy-to-wear qualities of the material, making it a pleasure to wear.
On the dial, solid black square sub-dials create a panda effect, with the seconds hand and the central section of the 12 o’clock marker given a deep red colour treatment to add vibrancy to the monochrome theme. A domed bevelled sapphire crystal houses the dial.
Powering the Monaco Titan is the automatic Calibre 11, providing a 40-hour power reserve, which can be seen through the titanium Grade 5 open caseback. The chronograph is fitted with a sporty anthracite alligator strap, with race cars’ tyre grooves and a titanium folding clasp.
