Highlighting the sale will be the Patek Philippe Reference 2523, one of the rarest wristwatches produced by the manufacturer in 1953, with an estimate worth of USD 1.25 mil to 2.5 mil.

Following the WINNING ICONS auction taking place in New York next week (October 26), Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo will be continuing its Fall season with The Hong Kong Watch Auction: FIVE at Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong on November 28, 2017.

The auction will offer an outstanding selection of collectible timepieces, including vintage and contemporary wristwatches, as well as pocket watches and enamel clocks.

Highlighting the sale will be the Patek Philippe Reference 2523, one of the rarest wristwatches produced by the manufacturer in 1953, with an estimate worth of USD 1.25 mil to 2.5 mil (~RM 5.3 mil to RM 10.6 mil).

Made for the rising “jet-set” in 1953, the yellow gold world time wristwatch is the only other Patek Philippe reference to feature two crowns besides its sister model, 2523/1.

“Intriguingly, this rare reference, powered by Louis Cottier’s revolutionary world time system, did not achieve tremendous success when it launched in 1953. Consequently, few were sold, and today, the reference 2523 ranks among the world’s most sought after watches,” Kazuhiko Fujimoto, Acting Head of Watches, Asia, and Aurel Bacs, Senior Consultant, said.

“Today, this timepiece is recognised for its pioneering, perfectly balanced design – chronicling a historic moment in watchmaking history that was ushered in by the jet age.”
