Here comes TAG Heuer, breaking ground with their Carrera, now dipped in the sparkle of both white and yellow diamonds. Lab-made diamonds are not part of your everyday watch material, but TAG Heuer is pushing the boundaries. This move puts TAG Heuer at the forefront, being the pioneer Swiss brand to fuse lab-grown diamonds into their watches. Introducing the Carrera Date Plasma Diamant d’Avant Garde.

The showstopper is the crown and the brand’s shield on the dial, showcasing two spectacular lab-grown yellow diamonds. This follows the pink diamond featured in the 2023 Carrera Date model. These gems boast a rainbow of colors, rarer and pricier than white diamonds. Only one carat in every 10,000 mined is a natural-colored diamond.

Cheaper to produce and virtually indistinguishable from natural diamonds in structure, appearance, and chemical makeup, these lab-produced diamonds are a game-changer. By recreating the intense pressure and temperatures needed for natural diamonds using CVD (chemical vapor deposition), lab-grown diamonds can be grown in various colors, textures, and sizes at a fraction of the cost.

The Carrera Date takes it up a notch with a 36mm white gold case adorned with 4.8 carats of lab-grown diamonds. The dial is a single plate made of special polycrystalline diamonds. Alongside the bright yellow diamonds, the dial flaunts twelve large white lab-grown baguette-cut diamond hour markers.

Flipping the watch over, the sapphire caseback unveils TAG Heuer’s calibre 7 automatic movement – based on the Sellita SW300 – offering a 56-hour power reserve.
