Following the release of the Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition earlier this year, the latest product of Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin’s partnership has now been unveiled. The Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition is a masterfully styled ode to luxury and performance, reflecting the two brands’ 330 collective years of accumulated expertise.

An eye-catching feature of this model is the decadent green dial, a direct reference to Aston Martin’s iconic racing car colour, which was made famous by the Aston Martin DBR1’s 1959 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Now known as ‘Aston Martin Green’, the rich shade is created by applying paint onto the dial twenty-one times to form seven layers of paint.

Aston Martin’s influence on the piece is also apparent in the cross-hatching, diamond-like pattern that takes inspiration from the carmaker’s ‘AM’ logo during the twenties, as well as from the quilted seat design in many of its high-performance sports cars.

The watch’s openworked hour and minute hands, representing a shedding of extraneous material to ensure optimum performance, continue the thoughtfully designed connection to Aston Martin’s racing cars. Furthermore, the counterweight in the central chronograph’s seconds hand mimics the side strakes found on the 1958 Aston Martin DB4.

Honouring its own watchmaking heritage, the octagonal bezel on the watch forms a profile that matches that of Girard-Perregaux’s iconic Laureato of 1975. The piece is housed in a 42mm 904L stainless steel case, which provides superior corrosion resistance, scratch resistance and a brighter, more luxurious effect.

At the rear of the model sits a pane of sapphire crystal that provides a glimpse into its automatic manufacture movement, the Calibre GP03300-0141, making it the first Laureato Chronograph to have an open caseback. The movement, based on the highly regarded Calibre GP03300, is elegantly finished with straight and circular Côtes de Genève.

The Laureato Chronograph – Aston Martin Edition is limited to 188 pieces and available worldwide in all authorised Girard-Perregaux retailers.
