Few can contend with the passion and commitment that Bell & Ross has with flight instruments. From the signature BR 01 and BR 03 collection that feature designs based on vintage cockpit clocks, to special editions that take after the display of actual flight instruments. Today, the French watchmaker revisits the aircraft radar design from the 2011 edition, and brings a new reinterpretation to this emblematic model.
The new BR03-92 Red Radar Ceramic stays true to the first design, the bright red crystal topping the dial to mimic the look of radar screen, but with a more realistic yet striking look. The dial features more distinct crosshairs compared to its predecessor, with two tiny screen-printed airplanes encircling the dial which allow the wearer to tell the time.
Thanks to a system featuring two rotating discs, the passenger plane makes its route on the outermost disc to display the hours, and the fighter plane travels on the inner disc to show the minutes. A slim, analogue central hand accompanies the two planes, to reveal the seconds.
To preserve the power reserve, the watchmakers at Bell & Ross introduced two ultra-light discs to the watch. Robust enough to not deform while maintaining a constant parallelism, the assembly of each of these components have been fined-tuned down to the nearest micron in order to ensure that the precision of the watch movement is not altered by friction.
As the name suggests, the BR 03-92 Red Radar Ceramic sports a robust and scratch-resistant, high-tech ceramic case rather than stainless steel. The case has also been downsized to 42mm from 46mm to give the watch enhanced wearability as well as a more sophisticated look.
Available in 999 units, this limited edition piece can be pre-ordered online. Deliveries will only be made in the beginning of July 2021.
